Description
For sale is a matched pair of La Radiotechique12AX7S / ECC83
FRS military coded tubes. 1962 date on both.
The same FRS Suresnes factory code, etched into glass, can be found sold by the CSF (later CSF-Thomson) company of St. Egrieve. Radiotechnique (R/T) is a Philips factory that typically sells tube designs like Mullard, Amperex, Valvo, etc.
However the tube type for sale here, is nothing like the traditional Philips economy. Certainly R/T in Suresnes make Philips style tubes and use Philips codes.
BUT!...
These particular models use almost always the French Military factory code system, and it's always FRS
...
(You will even see CSF tubes of identical construction with THEIR military code (FSE) Painted on, while the FRS and date codes are still etched into the glass near the bottom.)
So it is a very unique French tube with a intriguing history.
Sometimes these will be marketed as 'Mazda' like other French tubes, but, Mazda is not a company name. Its a branding shared by British Thomson-Houston, French Thomson-Houston.
...... who among other brands make Cifte....
and the same Thomson Houston that later purchased CSF to make CSF-Thomson. (That is why these R/T military tubes are sometimes colloquially called Mazda, through their connection to Thomson owned CSF)
The tube brandings of Mazda, Belvu and Ediswan are carried by very different products across the Greater Thomson-Houston corporate structure. Which is why you see Brimar tubes (which become affiliated with Thorn and also Thomson- Houston, using the same trademark names of Mazda-Belvu and Ediswan).
These test very, very well, within NOS range, and are quiet during testing via a high sensitivity headphone amp.
These are FIXED Price listings, but MAKE ME AN OFFER. YOU maybe pleasantly surprised.
If for any reason (other than subjective sound quality) you are not satisfied within 30 days of receipt, just send them back for a full refund.
These were purchased from Brent Jesse, and have had less than a couple hours use since purchased.
See the test results in photos. My result is the second number. Each triode measured on my tester is well balanced, and the results of both Brent Jesse's test and mine indicate
matching tubes, matching triodes at NOS levels (75 on my tester)
