Story Line
This beautiful Barn Find R90S was purchased in the Los Angeles area on or about 06-28-1974 by a Mr. B.
The dealer was and is STILL is Brown Motor Works in Pomona California.
Still in business today.
Mr. B. rode this bike a Total of 25,360 miles in the span of 3-4 years.
He rode this R90S and Mrs. B. rode her Harley Sportster.
The last “California registration sticker” on this bike is for the year of 1978.
By California law, the sticker will expire on06-27-1978.
6,340 miles a year.
Or as we all know, when we purchase a new bike, we ride it ALL the time during that first year so I am assuming the majority of the miles were put on this R90S all within the first 24 months of Mr. B owning the bike.
Mr. B. was more than likely an electrician as clearly evidenced by the pink slip (in my hand) showing the lien holder back in the day as,
LA Electrical Credit Union.”
According to the widow of Mr. B., “he loved this bike.”
The love for this bike was/is clearly evidenced when I purchased the bike.
The carbs and the gas tank had been drained of all fuel when put away.
The oil in the bike was/is new oil.
(Yes the old oil from1978 was drained and new oil replaced the old oil.)
Oh YES, the clock on the dash is in fine working order and the original tool kit and books also were purchased with this bike.
The sad part.
Mr. B became terminally ill and could no longer ride his beloved BMW and has since passed on.
Recent work performed on this bike:
New Battery-Fork tubes & seals-Rebuilt master cylinder- Rebuilt front calipers- 2 Mufflers & clamps- New grips- New foot peg rubbers-New air filter- Both carbs rebuilt & adjusted- 2 New fuel valves- 2 New front brake hoses- Oil filter & oil- Transmission oil changed- Rear drive oil changed- New Complete safety service and lengthy road test.
